Phase REM (2017) is an abstract, experimental short film inspired by the physiological components associated with dreams. During sleep, electrical/neurological impulses cause confusion for the conscious area of the brain as it attempts to organize daily memories, causing dreams to occur. For many, dreams enable mental escape and emotional detachment from the real world. However, the heavy emotional burdens of life can occasionally overtake one’s unconscious thoughts during the REM (rapid eye movement) phase, developing nightmares, tension,  and anxiety which are characterized by sounds and images.
