Mexican Girl is a commentary on the active, passive, and exploitative consumption of services provided by Mexican women in the United States. through the seemingly innocent display of a doll store, Mexican Girl portrays a parallel but not unfamiliar universe where Mexican women are sold as commodities- each fit to provide a certain role and labor within American Society. The dolls hold distinct identities (unique names, job/roles, hobbies. styles, and prices) with satirical back stories that depict the many ways in which they have been repeatedly used.
Based on personal experiences and observations within their own Mexican communities, the collaborating artists instigate further discourse about the underpaid and under protected Mexican labor force in America.
